Joyeux Noël! Merry Christmas!
This year has brought us so many wonderful gifts, both expected and unexpected. To start off the year we welcomed our beautiful twin boys into this world. Derek Kupono Van Patter and Keith Saunoa Van Patter were born January 18, 2012 in Kailua at Castle Hospital at 12:18pm and 12:21 pm. Derek weighed in at 7lbs. 2oz (quite big for a twin) and Keith was 5lbs. 4oz (a good and expected size for a twin). The labor and delivery went well for mom and the boys and after 3 days in the hospital we were all able to come home together as a family!

In March we had their blessing and so many of our friends and family were able to make it. We had Matt and Tia visit from Texas, Robbie from Utah, Lei's parents and brother Jeffrey from California, The Akeo Ohana (Ashlee's family) from Honolulu, Lei's cousins Tanya and a Manny from Nanakuli and our friends and family from Hau'ula and La'ie (Mills, Lafaeles). After the blessing we all went over the Mills' house for dinner and pictures.

| Jackie, Keith, Derek and Derek Our next adventure in the year happened in June. Lei's sister, Kiana, got married so Ashlee and Lei flew to California with the boys. They did so good on the aiplane and got all the flight attendant's attention.   Despite the following pictures, the boys love water so Lei took them to the pool at her parents house   In September the boys discovered the joy of swings   In October we had Halloween. The boys were Thing 1 and Thing 2 from Dr. Seuss. Alan was the Cat in the Hat and Lei was Sally from Dr. Seuss.     And to end the year we wanted to go out with a bang. Both Alan and Lei graduated from BYU-Hawaii December 15, 2012  We went on the Christmas Canoe ride at the Polynesian Cultural Center.        While Lei was back in California for Kiana's wedding she was talking with Matt and Tia about possibly moving out to Texas. Matt's job could move them out of state/country so they offered their home to us if that did happen. We thought that would be nice, but didn't want to plan on that so we just went about our usual business back here in Hawaii. Around the end of August, beginning of September, Matt and Tia tell us that Matt got the job to go to the Philippines and would be there for a few years. They asked if we could come out in December after graduation. We said yes and worked with our teachers and advisors to make sure everything was in order for us to graduate so we could leave shortly thereafter. We are so grateful to Matt and Tia for offering us this opportunity to save money and allow the boys a backyard and more living space. We leave Hawaii December 28, 2012. The boys don't turn one until January so we decided to have one big party. We had their birthday party, Alan and Lei' graduation party and our family aloha oe/goodbye party all wrapped into one. Alan's auntie Ivona made the cake and cupcakes for the boys. Lei's mom made some amazing desserts which resulted in many people asking for recipes. Tanya and Manny provided much of the food and everyone there helped in setting up and cleaning up.   We have enjoyed our time here in Hawaii and are excited to start our new adventures in Texas. We are so grateful for all the love and support we have received from so many of you and hope to keep in contact with you.
